CAMP BROSIUS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CAMP

During my time at Camp Brosius it was a lot different than it normally has been. It took place on campus. At the camp held at IUPUI I partook in leadership and team building activities. This experience was different from what I have heard this camp being like. However, I learned a lot about being a leader, making strong connections with others, learning to trust my teammates, and really dig deep on the kind of leader that I am. In the assessment for the StrengthsFinders test my 5 strengths that were given consisted of achiever, responsibility, relator, self-assurance, and arranger.


I am a leader that wants to achieve things and help other achieve as well. I am leader that takes responsibility and empathizes with people. I am a leader who self assurance in my own well-being and boosts others confidence because of it. I am a leader who knows how to fix and arrange things in order to make things work and move smoothly.

P410 SERVICE LEARNING

Motor Activity Clinic

MUSCLE BUILDING

In this clinic I participated as a student trainer. I worked with a young client who has cerebral palsy. During our training I created exercise plans into various activities that they could partake in. I would do this by demonstrating these activities and performing the activities with my client. I would also make modifications where they were needed.

RESILENCE

In this class my client showed me resilience and loved to swim in the water the most. It was eye opening how determined she was and just learning about things that she enjoyed most. To me this was not training. This was almost like recess to me. We worked a lot on her fine motor skills and smaller tasks that involved smaller muscles. I even was able to be apart of her walking with little to no assistance. This was by fair the best, most difficult, and rewarding experience I had in my time as a college student

INSHAPE

Student Personal Trainer

As a student personal trainer I go to work with a client through IUPUI's program called InShape. During my time in this class I got to learn what it is like to work alongside with a client and help them reach their own personal goals. I learned how to adjust the clients program according to their goals, teach them new ways of training, learn about them as person, and even learned a few things I did not know from them. I have trained with people before, but that would entail me training along side with them. It was a very rewarding experience to see how far my client came with their goals with our short time together. He gained more upper body strength, developed a stronger core, and even lost a couple pounds.

WELLNESS COACHING

During my time at IUPUI I have taken on three different clients for wellness coaching (my minor). As a Wellness Coach I worked one-on-one with my clients to improve their health and their well-being. We developed SMART goals in which these goals were either short term and/or long term. Once we have set the goal we come up with plans in order to reach that specific goal. As time progresses we alter this goal if needed and add onto this goal if the client wants to. It was also just a time where the client could just talk and express where they are at and what is going on in their life.
